برخورداری از ظرفیتهای جغرافیایی و اقلیمی ، استقرار در کریدورهای بین المللی و مسیر شبکه های حمل و نقل جاده ای  ، وجود گمرک دوغارون با بیش از صد سال قدمت تاریخی به عنوان دروازه اصلی مبادلات تجاری با افغانستان ، بر اهمیت این منطقه افزوده است.

دوغارون در نقطه صفر مرز مشترک  ایران و افغانستان و در محدوده جغرافیایی شهرستان تایباد  در استان خراسان رضوی واقع گردیده و پر رفت و آمد ترین و رسمی ترین معبر برای رفت وآمد به کشور افغانستان است .معبر دوغارون حدود 25 کیلومتر تا شهر تایباد و حدود 250 کیلومتر تا مشهد که مرکز استان  خراسان رضوی است فاصله دارد.
